Cuepacs mohon diberi 2 bulan bonus kepada pejawat awam.

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 OCTOBER, 2010: Cuepacs is asking the government for a two-month bonus for the country's 1.2 million civil servants.

This is a change from the position stated by Cuepacs President Omar Osman yesterday when he said he hoped the government could give its employees a bonus of half a month this year.

Omar was reported to have been persuaded by the Prime Minister that the government could not afford a two month bonus because of the economic slowdown.

Today, after chairing a Cuepacs council meeting here, Omar said the government could well afford to pay civil servants two months bonus, noting that the economy expanded 10.1 per cent in the first quarter of the year.

"We sent a telegram to the Prime Minister this evening stating our wish to meet him and hope that he can reconsider this matter," he told reporters.

A total of 135 delegates, including from Sabah and Sarawak, attended the council meeting.
